ok. here's another random excerpt from my life in 3T. OMG spoilers. after some bout of weird imagination, i decided the best way to remember our class/win the class deco competition would be to design something original. and since i'm a card game fanatic, the best thing i could think of was...
A 3T themed deck of playing cards! *fanfare music plays*
Only problem is, i can't draw for nuts. *fanfare music stops abruptly*
anyway, to make my life easier, i have decided to redraw only the picture cards (K, Q, J), the Ace of Spades, and the Joker, and each card will be representative of someone in the class. i will explain the design soon. anyway, here's the list of cards/people:
King of Spades - Sheng Wei (Monitor)
Queen of Spades - Xin Yan (Assistant Monitor)
Jack of Spades - Brandon (Treasurer)
King of Hearts - Ernest (Biology Rep)
Queen of Hearts - Johnathan (Chemistry Rep)
Jack of Hearts - Mervyn (Physics Rep)
King of Clubs - Teng Chuan (Chinese Rep)
Queen of Clubs - Parry (English Rep)
Jack of Clubs - Dominic (Maths Rep)
King of Diamonds - Manfred (CLE Rep)
Queen of Diamonds - Lin Jin (IT Rep)
Jack of Diamonds - Jack (duh) (Geography Rep)
Ace of Spades - Mr. Koh Siak Peng
Joker - Generic Joker
here is the explanation in general. skip this part if you're lazy to read it.
in taiti, Spades is the biggest, followed by the Hearts, Clubs and then Diamonds. therefore, Spades is the most "important", the "highest" position. similarly, the CEC is the highest position in the class, and just nice there are 3 positions, like there are 3 kinds of court cards. therefore, the King of Spades should be the head honcho, the monitor. similar reasoning for the rest of the Spades cards.
next biggest is Hearts, which are represented by the 3 science reps. heck, our class "name" gives a clue to the importance of these subjects. remember course selection online, there was TRIPLE SCIENCE plus Geog. without the sciences, our class would just be Geog. (rather boring name, isn't it?) the arrangement of big to small in the sciences has been arbitrarily assigned by me.
next, Clubs. The languages and maths reps take up the suit here, as they are the subjects that are not that "important"/noted, but yet we can't live without them. again, rank has been arbitrarily assigned by me.
finally, last but not least, Diamonds. the smallest suit, this category is for the final subject (Geog) and its rep. also, the other reps which contribute but not so much academically are placed here, such as the IT rep. without them, we wouldn't be able to enjoy the wonders of multimedia, would we? so, there is still one place left, any takers? Reps left: PE, CLE, Security.
ahh, the Ace of Spades. the first thing evryone sees wh en they open the deck. similarly, the form teacher is the first person anyone sees when they discover our class misbehaving. the Ace of Spades is usually the most fancy card, so more work has to go into this card to make it look nice.
the joker is usually not used at all, but when called upon can perform an almost unlimited number of actions, such as replacing a lost card, or being the highest card. the joker also gives people a sense of playfulness, unpredictability, and the quiet one most of the time. usually, the joker is drawn in a funny situation or in funny clothes, so forgive me, whoever is placed here, if my drawing doesn't fit your ego.
gosh, i think that's all for now, have to go think of poses and design ideas (colour, details eg. what they're holding, what they're doing etc.) for each card. also need to go observe friends to be able to draw how they look like.
also, i noticed that people don't like to be placed on the queen card. come on, it's just a letter Q on the side of the card. and i'm not going to draw you in a dress and a crown or whatever (not like i can). there is NO OTHER meaning intended.
who knew that designing a deck of cards would be so hard?
Till next post...
